Hiking—Hike along the rugged coastline at the top of the headlands, then drop down to Big River Beach for some fun in the waves.
Boating—Catch a Canoe & Bicycles Too can rent you a canoe or kayak to take more than 8 miles up Big River. The beautiful river canyon is undeveloped and full of wildlife.
Biking—You can also get bikes at Catch a Canoe & Bicycles Too. A gentle trail follows the river into a redwood canyon.
This 347-acre green belt, on the headlands between Highway One and the Pacific Ocean, surrounds the town of Mendocino. Sheer bluffs rising from a rocky shoreline form the park’s southern section. The historic Ford House Visitor Center (built in 1854) sits on the south side of Mendocino’s Main Street. Most of the shops on the town’s picturesque main street have excellent ocean views.
This park receives ongoing support from the Mendocino Area Parks Association.
