Visitors come to Greenwood Beach to picnic and relax. Picnic tables at the top of the bluff afford gorgeous ocean views and easy access to the pit toilets. A trail down to the ocean reaches the expansive, sandy beaches, often with lots of driftwood for building impromptu shelters from the sun.
Originally the town's post office, the Elk Greenwood Museum & Visitor Center is in the middle of town and offers a glimpse into Elk's past as well as offering postcards and books for sale on a wide range of topics.

Greenwood State Beach is located along the Mendocino County coast about 15 miles north of Point Arena on Highway 1.
